Since the last post. I have committed myself %100 to Personal
Development. I not only joined a metaphysical church, but was voted
in to be on the board.
From February 09 to August 09, I have built and
marketed the Website and Blog for the United Metaphysical Church as
well as for the Unity in the Pines Church.
Another step was to bring water and sewer to the Church's property.
The church had an estimate of $155,000 to do the work. I looked at
the plans and made two phone calls. There were others that definitely
helped make this come together. We had everything done for under
$20,000. That's a $135,000 savings! I do use the keys to success!
Next step in personal development was to start a radio show. I started
my radio show, "Spirit of Personal Development" in late May.
This started opening many doors to my new and exciting field. I connected
with some friends and created a great training seminar, "I'm Back!".
We held the first training at the beginning of August 09. We didn't make
any money off of the first training but did have great feedback. The connections
I made were phenomenal!
Of coarse, anyone dealing with Personal Development has to write a book.
I am now taking that step. Be Prepared!

Reinventing self with Personal Power
This blog is about the information that allot of the personal development books, tapes, Cd's, e-books and Seminars give us and how I have used them in my life.
Up until I was about 19 or 20 years old, I never realized I had choices. It started with a seed. Now, I don't want to scare anyone away, but I was introduced to Amway. Did I succeed, Heck No! What did stick with me was that I couldn't complain about "not having an opportunity" to make money Anymore. If it were strictly money that I wanted, there was a vehicle. Strictly Money is the key word here. My life wasn't and isn't about just making money. So began the Questions of Life and later to become the Motivating and Focused Questions of Life.
I grew up in construction. My Dad had his own masonry business in upstate New York. If ideas fell apart, I could always fall back on construction. I always wanted to get out of construction. One opportunity was selling insurance. I didn't believe in whole life policies, so that didn't work. I read the sales books, but if someone came up with a reason for not buying, I was all ears, because I agreed with them.
I took a couple of communication courses from Scientology. There is a lot of skepticism about Scientology. My lesson from this is to just not hold the facilitator (L. Ron Hubbard in this case) in the position of God. I did experience being able to have eye contact with people during these courses. A welcome plug-in to my social software called life. So now I try car sales.
In car sales, I began reading allot of books on sales such as Tom Hopkins and Joe Girard. Then I came along "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill. I have no idea how many times I've read this book. The key was to not necessarily "understand" the principles in the book. The key is to "do" the principles in the book.
I realized the point about miracles happening in Life. I wrote my goals. I hung it on the bathroom mirror, on my rear view mirror, in my desk drawer and anywhere else I could think of. People (customers) want to deal with winners. So rather than telling people how slow things were and that I would sell them a car at whatever price, I told them that I was already selling more cars this month than anyone else so I get bonuses for every other car I sell. This was True. People came from places I didn't even think of to buy a car. I experienced the power and the Miracle of the Subconscious Mind. I Love sales. I am not however, a big automobile enthusiast. So I left car sales.
Back to construction. I also got more into the "self help" scene. One big change was an experiential seminar or "training" called Life Spring. The preliminary seminar was about how you experience yourself. I became aware of the power of your word, or integrity. This was 3 afternoons and a weekend.
The second or "Advanced" course blew away everything that was experienced in the first seminar. This course was geared towards Feedback. It no longer was about what you thought you were communicating as much as it was about how you are coming across to others. Then, the leadership program which was where you went into the outside world and actually used what you experienced, What a concept. After the trainings I wanted to facilitate seminars. I wanted it to be experiential.
The Fire Walk appeared!
Going to so many seminars, you realize that most of the facilitators don't even believe what they're teaching. It's like they're reading out of a book and hoping someone buys their crap because they want to see if it really works. That's why I wanted to facilitate an experiential seminar. I was watching TV when a documentary came on. It was about Fire walking. I had never done this. I gave myself 3 months to learn how to teach it. To put pressure on myself, I advertised in 3 local magazines that I was teaching the fire walk seminar in 3 months. So I went out looking for a mentor.
My first attempt was putting together a seminar with a facilitator experienced using the Hunan philosophy. I walked across the fire that night, but did not have any confidence about teaching it that way. My experience with using mostly meditation is that I saw allot of people in metaphysics get an answer through meditation, then rather than taking action, they'd go meditate about again. No results there! That's when I experienced Tony Robbins. I flew out for the weekend to San Jose where Tony was having a seminar attended by 1200 people.
Of course he said during the seminar to not teach it yourself. I saw that as covering himself for lawsuits. To me, his teachings are about using Mentors. I learned in 2 weeks time to move and talk like him. I had 21 people show up and all the people that walked across the fire walk did great. Yes there are break throughs when walking across fire for the first time. There is even more of a break through when you are the facilitator and have to be the first one to walk across the fire. Don't think fear doesn't come knocking at your door during these times.
Well, I got into putting on health and fitness shows. I was doing just OK doing shows at shopping malls. Then I went in with a partner to do a show at a bigger venue. Mistake. The partner made decision based on fear and I fell apart.
I moved back with my parents for 1 year. Thank God. I had everything I owned in my car, driving from Florida to New York when my car broke down. The car wasn't worth fixing. I took my most valued belongings and got down to 3 boxes, then took the train. My parents greeted me at the train station. I was beat up in every way I could think. Oh what did I do? Construction.
I came back to Florida, got married and adopted 2 kids, and looked at getting into something. I loved sales, I knew construction. Light Bulb! Why don't I work as a contractor? Within 2 years of working as a contractor, I was running a multimillion dollar a year business. I just did what the successful masonry contractors were doing.
But I went a different direction. I went through a divorce. I never realized the amount of corruption in the justice system until I went through the divorce. The divorce was my biggest challenge yet. I lost everything. Again! I was put in jail for not being able to pay $6,000 a month in support. To get out of jail, I had to write out that my X would receive everything. Oh, I got to keep the liabilities. The biggest loss was losing my 2 kids.
With every challenge there is a seed of greater opportunity. I used to think that people in the justice system had power. Now I take nothing they say as fact, but as ways to cover their... (You know).
I got remarried. Our first 4 years have been constant problems with my X. I had rebuilt the construction company back to almost one million dollars in the first year. Then I was forced into bankruptcy from the family courts by my X. I was even court ordered to sell my clothes. I put away all court papers and documents.
I have refocused on a productive life again.
I become more aware of the power that people like Gandhi, Steve Biko, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, and the forefathers who signed the constitution of United States have.
I know what it takes to make money. My wife has a great company now. We combined construction, sales, the internet and every other enjoyable pastime that I've had to create websites.
There are tons of other great things I've done in my life that I haven't started to mention that the internet is bringing to us.
I claim victory in successful living! It's funny; I'm starting to read the "4 hour work week". While I read it, I realize that I've lived life like that. I traveled throughout the United States. I lived in New York, Florida, Tennessee, New Mexico & Alaska. I've traveled to most all the other states. I have been to Dominican Republic, Europe, Peru and Mexico. I have played drums in bands playing jazz, country, rock, top 40, funk, rhythm & blues, classics & gospel. This allowed me to travel the US.
